Shida Kartli
Shida Kartli is one of the nine administrative regions in which Georgia is organized since 1996. It is located in the center of the country, covers an area of 6200 km² and has a population of 464,000 inhabitants. The region is divided into 5 rations or districts: Gori, Kaspi, Kareli, Yava and Jashuri, and a city, Tskhinvali. The capital and largest city is the city of Gori. The region of Shida Kartli has border with Russia, and within Georgia with the regions of Kvemo Kartli, Imericia, Mtsjeta-Mtianeti, Racha-Lechjumi and Kvemo Svaneti and Samtsje-Yavajeti. The climate in the region is moderately warm and humid and has very varied landscapes.
