Vega Alta is a municipality located on the north coast of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the North, with Morovis and Corozal on the South. With Vega Baja in the West. And with Dorado in the East, with an area of 72 km². Vega Alta is far from San Juan, the capital city of Puerto Rico. It is the home of the Hyatt Regency Cerromar, although many consider it part of the neighboring city of Dorado. It is also the hometown of New York Yankees All-Star baseball player Bernie Williams. Vega Alta is also known for the beautiful Public Spa of Cerro Gordo, one of the most visited beaches in Puerto Rico.
Another place of interest is its catholic church, better known as the Immaculate Conception, founded in 1813. For naturalists and walkers, the Vega State Forest offers several opportunities to stretch their legs. In fact, Bosque de Vega is the first forest reserve you will find while traveling west of San Juan. During the first week of December, Vega Alta celebrates its patron, The Immaculate Conception.
