San Juan is the capital city of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and one of the 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico, an unincorporated territory of the United States. In the 2010 Census it had a population of 442 447 inhabitants and a population density of 1983.45 persons per km². In the economic sphere, it is the most important economic and industrial center of Puerto Rico, and its metropolitan area concentrates most of the economic activity of the island. It is the second Latin American city with the highest per capita income, only behind Brasilia, the seventeenth city in terms of the size of its gross domestic product in Latin America, one of the most attractive cities to invest in Spanish-speaking America.
