Tigray
Tigray is one of the traditional historical provinces of Ethiopia. Between the years 1942 and 1995 it was one of the 14 provinces of the country, according to the current administrative organization of the time. It basically corresponds to the current Tigray region, in the north of the country, although its borders were modified. The majority of its population was of the Tigray ethnic group. Its capital was the city of Mekele.
