Amazonas
Amazonas is one of the twenty-four departments that are part of the Republic of Peru. Its capital is Chachapoyas and its most populated city is Bagua Grande. It is located in the northern region of the country, bordered on the west by the Department of Cajamarca, on the south by La Libertad, on the southeast by San Martín, on the east by Loreto and on the north by the Republic of Ecuador. It covers 39.2 thousand km² of rugged territory, mostly covered by the Amazon.
According to the last census, the department of Amazonas has a total population of 379,384 h, with a density of 9.6 hab / km², being the fourth with the lowest population density, ahead of Ucayali, Loreto and Madre de Dios.
