It limits to the North with Totonicapán and Quiché, to the South with Suchitepéquez, to the East with Chimaltenango. And to the west Suchitepéquez and Quetzaltenango. The departmental capital is located at a distance of 140 kilometers from the Capital City of Guatemala.
