Baoruco
Bahoruco is one of the 32 provinces of the Dominican Republic located in the southwest of the country. It is part of the Enriquillo Region, next to the provinces of Barahona, Independencia and Pedernales. It limits to the north with the province San Juan, to the northeast with Azua, southeast with Barahona and to the south and west with Independence. The provincial capital is the city of Neiba o. It was created in 1943. Before its creation, the territory was part of the Barahona province. It was given the name of Bahoruco, since the south of the province was occupied by the Sierra de Bahoruco.
When the Independencia province was created, the Bahoruco province was far from the Sierra de Bahoruco but retained its name.
