Canindeyú is one of the seventeen departments that, together with Asunción, Distrito Capital, form the Republic of Paraguay. Its capital is Salto del Guairá and its most populated city is Curuguaty. It is located east of the eastern region of the country, bounded on the north by Amambay and Brazil, on the east by the Paraná river that separates it from Brazil, on the south by Alto Paraná and Caaguazú, and on the west by San Pedro.
