East Berbice-Corentyne
Berbice Oriental-Corentyne is a region in Guyana that covers the whole east of the country. It has an area of 36 234 km². It borders the Atlantic Ocean to the north, the Republic of Suriname to the east, Brazil to the south and the regions of Mahaica-Berbice, and Alto Demerara-Berbice, Potaro-Siparuni and Alto Takutu-Alto Essequibo to the west. Cities in the region include New Amsterdam, Corriverton, Mara and Rose Hall. The Corentyne River forms the whole of the eastern border with Suriname, although the southernmost section is disputed territory with Suriname known as the New River triangle or Tigri region.
