Morobe
Province of Morobe is a province located on the northern coast of Papua New Guinea, whose capital is Lae. The province covers a total area of 34,500 km² with a population of 539,725 inhabitants according to the census carried out in the year 2000. The province has 9 administrative districts 9 and in it 171 different languages are spoken. During the Second World War between 1942 and 43, in the Huon Peninsula, northeast of Morobe, occurred the so-called Huon Peninsula Campaign, where Japanese and allied troops fought over the region.
