Badakhshan
Province of Badakhshan is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan. It is located in the northeast of the country, between the Hindu Kush and the Amu Daria. It is bordered on the north and east by the Upper Badakhshan region of Tajikistan, on the south by the province of Nurrist, on the east by the Northwest Frontier Province of Pakistan, on the west by the province of Tahār and on the southwest by the province of Panjshīr. It also borders China through the Wakhan Corridor. Its capital is Fayzābād. Some main cities are Eškašem, Handūd, Jurm and Qal'eh-ye Panjeh. It has an area of 44 059 km².
