Pinturas negras is the name given to a series of fourteen mural works by Francisco de Goya, painted with the oil technique al secco. He created them as a decoration of the walls of his house, called the Quinta del Sordo, which he had acquired in February 1819. These murals were moved to canvas from 1874, and are currently preserved in the Prado Museum in Madrid.

For 50 years the existence of the Black Paintings was scarcely known, and from 1874, and in a slow process that lasted several years, they were moved from plaster to canvas by Salvador Martínez Cubells at the request of Baron Émile d'Erlanger, a French banker, of German origin, who had the intention to present them at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1878.
Later, he himself donated them, in 1881, to the Prado Museum, where they are currently exhibited.
